The IBPS PO Examination is an annual undertaking of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to recruit Probationary Officers for public sector banks in India. Since 2011, the IBPS PO exam had been conducted annually, and this year’s exam will be the 14th installment. According to IBPS, as many as 11 public sector banks are expected to be filled by IBPS CRP PO/MT CRP-XIV 2024.

The selection process comprises three stages- Prelims, Mains, and an Interview. Initially, it had 4455 vacancies for the year 2024, but now that has been revised to 3955 vacancies. IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility Criteria – Age Limit, Qualification

The IBPS PO eligibility criteria consist of fulfilling the age limit, educational qualification, and nationality. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria for IBPS PO exam will be disqualified from the appointment. 

Nationality/Citizenship for IBPS PO Exam

A candidate must be a subject of any one of the following countries who are eligible to apply:

  • Be an Indian citizen, or
  • Be a citizen of Nepal, or
  • Be a citizen of Bhutan, or
  • Be a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • Indian migrant national from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam who intends to permanently settle in India.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern 

The IBPS PO Prelims exam consists of three components: Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and English Language. There is a time limit of 20 minutes for each component, making the total time taken by the exam to complete 1 hour. In the exam, there is a provision for negative marking, where 0.25 marks is deducted for every wrong answer. The exam is designed to check the candidate’s aptness in the three areas. Moreover, this being a timed examination, the candidates must be efficient with time management. This way, all three aspects-the speed and accuracy-can be tested while answering the questions.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern 2024

The IBPS PO Mains is a test to be held in two sections: objective and descriptive. The objective section will carry questions from the sections of Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, and Data Analysis & Interpretation. The descriptive section consists of the English Language paper, including Letter Writing and an Essay. Total time for the IBPS PO Mains exam is 3 hours 30 minutes and the total marks for the examination paper is 225. Objective section tests knowledge and reasoning skills while the descriptive section tests writing skills.
